About Ghana
 

GhanaGhana is located at the centre of the world, that is on the Greenwich Meridian and the Equator which is in her territorial waters. Ghana lies in the West coat of Africa, about 750km north of the equator on the Gulf of Guinea. The Nation has total land areas of 238,305 sq km. On the North, Ghana is boarded by Burkina Faso on the south by the Gulf of Guinea, on the east by Togo and on the West by Cote D’Ivoire.

Historical

Formerly the Gold Coast, Ghana is a young republic which becomes independent from British on 6 March, 1957, the first black African colony to achieve its independence. Ghana occupies the pinnacle spot in Pan-Africa history having lit the touch for African Emancipation and became home to famous Pan-African such as W.E.B Du Bois and George Padmore, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah (Ghana’s first president).

LANDSCAPE
The coastal area of Ghana comprises of lowland plains disserted by rivers which form large and numerous lagoons near the estuaries. The land is relatively flat and the altitude is generally below 500m, with more than half of the country lying below 200m.

RELIGION

Approximately 60% of Ghana’s are Christians, 25% are Muslims located in Northern Ghana. Traditional religious are practical and co-exist with the major religious in the social events and funerals.
